Many thanks to the Immaculate Conception church community for your support of the “Bag of Blessings” project. We have delivered over 2,000 bags to date. Please continue with your donations of both items and money to buy items for the bags. As cool weather approaches, blankets, scarves, hats, and gloves will be needed. As long as we have the homeless, we will have need of this project. Thanks for your support.
Items needed include: individually wrapped food (salad kits, tuna, crackers, applesauce, fruit cups, snacks, dessert treats} and toiletries (tooth brushes, tooth paste, soap, shampoo, lotion, sanitary wipes, shaving items for men and sanitary items for women). Always think small size when purchasing items. Socks for both men and women are always needed. Blankets, too.
Donated items may be left in a tub in the back of the church. Financial donations are always welcome. To date, 2,832 bags of blessings and 148 blankets have been donated to the homeless. Many thanks for the donations for these bags.
Our mat making group, Bag Ladies Plus 4, meets every 2nd and 4th Friday, at 10 a.m. in the Parish Hall, to work on making plastic mats for the homeless. Everyone is welcome and no experience is needed. It takes approximately 400 bags to make one mat. Please continue to bring your plastic bags to the Parish Hall and place them in the marked boxes. To date, we have made and given away 121 mats to the homeless.
