Paulist Fathers 150th Anniversary
Pilgrimage
|
On
Saturday, September 27th
parishioners from both Immaculate
Conception and John XXIII went back in time when they took a pilgrimage
to Winchester, TN to visit and tour the 100 Oaks Castle which was the
first mission house of the Paulist Fathers in Tennessee. Parishioners
from Paulist staffed parishes St. Patrick’s and St. Augustine’s in
Memphis also attended the event. At 11:30am Mass was celebrated by Bishop Houck, retired Bishop of Jackson, Mississippi, at Good Shepherd Church in Decherd, TN. The St. Augustine’s Gospel Choir sang lively music in a traditional Gospel manner at the Mass. Following Mass a buffet lunch was enjoyed by all. On the return trip to Knoxville we visited St. Margret Mary Church in Alto, TN. Both Good Shepherd and St. Margret Mary were founded by the Paulist Fathers from their mission house in Winchester. This pilgrimage was the final celebration event of the Paulist Fathers 150th Anniversary year. What a great way to wrap-up a fabulous year. |
