The most important night of  2009 began at dusk on Holy Saturday, April 11th.  On that night, we came together to celebrate the Lord’s Resurrection in the most impressive and beautiful Liturgy of the church year.  On that most holy night, we baptized the elect and welcomed into full communion those candidates who have been praying and studying for the past year. 

 The Easter Vigil is not just your “ordinary” Mass.  Indeed there is nothing “ordinary” about the Easter Vigil.  Imagine - a church in complete darkness and then the spark of new fire.  Imagine - the proclamation of our salvation history.  Imagine - an evening filled with glorious music, and the sights and sounds of fire and water, and the smell of chrism.  Imagine - the joy of our community as we welcomed the newly baptized and the newly confirmed to their First Eucharist. With all these thoughts in mind, the Easter Vigil is the summit of the church year. 

The Elect who were baptized included Madison Backus and Hoa Nguyen. The Elect who were baptized, confirmed and received First Eucharist included Drew Daniels, Joseph Daniels, Lisa Moody and Tuyen Nguyen. The Candidates who professed their faith and received their First Eucharist and the Sacrament of Confirmation included Nancy Arnold, Jessica Black, Allison Dylewski, Steven Evans, Joshua Gillespie, Meredith Morales, Michael Morris, Greg Owens, Colby Reynaud, Courtenay Selden and  Wendy Smith. The Confirmation Candidates who received the Sacrament of Confirmation included Shirley Harris, Lisa McConnell and Melissa Millican. Congratulations to all of you.
